This event is designed to inspire and challenge students while highlighting the importance of mathematics in real-world careers.

9:00 AM – Arrival & Setup
9:15 AM – Have Sum Fun Competition Begins
11:15 AM – Food Break (BYO) & Team Building Games
12:00 PM – QANTAS Pilots Panel & Q&A
12:45 PM – Lunch Break (BYO)
1:00 PM – Return to School
 

Have Sum Fun Competition

A thrilling, fast-paced mathematics competition modelled after a quiz-night format!
🔹 Teams of six students will tackle four intense rounds of eight challenging mathematical problems.
🔹 Teams may consist of students from both Years 5 and 6, but a maximum of three students from the higher year level is allowed per team.
🔹 The competition encourages strategic thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving under pressure.

This exclusive session at Nedlands Primary School is open only to Year 5-6 students.

Team Building Games

Maths isn’t just about numbers—it’s about problem-solving, communication, and collaboration!

🔹 Students will work in teams to solve real-world puzzles and challenges.
🔹 Groups will be mixed to encourage teamwork, critical thinking, and social skills.
🔹 These engaging activities are designed to promote creativity and resilience in a fun and supportive environment.

"Why is Mathematics Important for Everyone?"

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students to engage with two professional

🔹 Network Aviation (Qantas Group) pilots James Lowe and Adrian Stevens!

🔹 Our guest speakers will share their career journeys, education pathways, and insights into the fascinating world of aviation.
🔹 Students will learn how mathematics plays a crucial role in piloting, navigation, and real-world decision-making.
🔹 We encourage students to prepare thoughtful questions to ask during the Q&A session.
